The elementary school at Colegio Britanico is characterized by the active application of the IB`s Primary Years Program (PYP) and an immersion program in English. Every core subject is taught in their second language which promotes having bilingual children. Our environment is safe and welcoming; however, we also focus on giving them tools so they can be academically successful throughout their lives. This allows for our students to be well-rounded, happy human beings who are able to become “citizens of the world”.
Throughout the six years in elementary, students learn from authentic experiences based on a constructivist methodology. This methodology promotes inverted classroom instruction also known as “Flipped Classrooms”. In this type of instruction students learn from activities such as centers, the use of concrete material, academic trip, visits from experts and exchange programs, among others.
Our aim is for students to put in practice all that they learn, and to promote positive habits that will ensure connections with the real world. This will help them to know themselves in different perspectives such as: artistic, athletic, academic and social development in activities like music and art, soccer and capoeira, math and robotics and learning a third language. They also understand the importance of collaborative creation by working on social projects.
