Middle Years Programme

El Programa de los Años Intermedios

The Middle Years Program (MYP) is designed for students aged 11-16. It provides a learning framework that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. It emphasizes intellectual challenge by encouraging students to make connections between their studies and the real world. It promotes the development of communication skills, intercultural understanding and global commitment, qualities that are essential to life in the 21st century. The IB Middle Years Program consists of eight groups of themes integrated through five interactive areas that provide global contexts for learning.

Students must study at least two languages (as part of their multilingual profile), arts, design, individuals and societies, mathematics, physical education, and health and science. In their fifth MYP year, students will also carry out an independent “personal project” to demonstrate the development of their skills and understanding.

Británico Internacional received its certification in the program on December 21, 2009. All our students participate in the program, who receive rigorous and strict follow-up classes to help them achieve excellence not only intellectual but also social and emotional.

The program at Británico Internacional is specially designed for the unique needs of children from seventh grade to eleventh year of high school. It is the time when they need to develop exceptional learning habits, self-confidence and a deep academic knowledge in their subjects. This student-centered approach to learning embraces and transcends traditional school subjects by helping students see connections between academic disciplines. The program is designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.
